Tuesday Thoughts

From the Basement: I'm staying pretty busy. 'Item of the week' has been these fun kids totes. The design options are endless and they are all just too cute!
From my "Spring Meltdown": My trusty scales finally hit -30 lbs. this morning!!! Yahhoooooo!!! I'm very proud of myself. Just 4 more lbs. to reach my 'end of school' weight goal.
From school: You may remember me saying this exactly one year ago today: "there just comes a time when it needs to be over".... well, we are there! Please hurry June 9!

New Bikini

No, not for me, silly! Even with my recent weight loss this body is far from bikini ready, if it ever was! The new bikini is the latest addition to my ever growing collections of embroidery designs. It's from Applique Frenzy and I love it. What do you think? I'll be adding it to the website soon.
Thanks goodness tomorrow is Friday! Good night JohnBoy!

Screamin' kids & cell phones

If you are a regular reader you know that I'm not a shopper and here are two more reasons for my list of why the world of retail is not my favorite place.
  1. Screamin' kids
  2. people talking on cell phones
I went into three stores on Friday and in each store my senses were assaulted by the constant screaming of children and people blabbing non-stop on cell phones.
Mothers, learn how to control your children, please! My daughters never acted like that in public...well, maybe ONCE! I do not know how the mothers stand it and how inconsiderate to us innocents that have to be exposed to it. Take the kids home! Don't take them to the store if they are tired or sick or hungry...use some common sense! Stop yelling at them. And for heaven's sakes stop 'warning' them over and over! It is your job to run the show, not be run over by your children. Tell them what you expect, give them a consequence and then do it! Yes, your children will be unhappy temporarily, but the rest of us will thank you! and you will be thankful one day that you took charge while they were still young and trainable!
And lastly, get off of the damn darn phone American! It is rude to carry on a conversation in public, period.
Now, to end on a more pleasant note....aren't these quilted totes great?!?! Both of these were ordered for graduation gifts. I use one for my 'school bag'...it's huge....holds all of my papers,a lunch bag and sometimes even my purse! Hope you've had a wonderful weekend. Think there are 14 regular, 4 exam and 2 work days between me & summer vacation. Wahooo...light at the end of the tunnel!

Girls in Dresses

Girls in Dresses
(a.k.a. My Sewing Divas)
Once again my students have dazzled me with their talents! Many of them selected dresses for their most recent projects and some of the patterns were really difficult...lots of gathering, darts, zippers, pockets....they were not intimidated by any of it. Of course, we do have that 'sewing angel' that occasionally fixes things when no one is looking ;) Seriously, they are all precious & make me so proud. I will miss them when the semester is over.

Quotes

Today I am knee deep in a mental funk...trying desperately to 'walk' and 'iron' my way out. My brain is to the point of explosion from thinking (fretting). Some of my favorite quotes seem to be on a continuous loop, playing over & over in my head.

  • "We find time & money for the things that are important to us"

  • "You get what you give"

  • "We learn what we live and live what we learn"

  • "Sometimes if you don't listen, you have to feel"

  • "Apples don't fall far from the tree"

  • "Explain not, friends don't expect it and enemies won't accept it"

  • "Pretty is, as pretty does"

  • "Put on your big girl panties and deal with it"

I hate this and hope the mood lifts soon. Does anyone have an inspirational quote to share?
