Warning: this is a long post. The past two weeks have been busy and hot and tons of fun. Definitely worth coming out of the Basement! Wanted to include more photos in the slide show, but camera batteries are dead and hubby isn't here to rescue help me (details below). Our twelve day 'go-a-thon' started with a long weekend trip to Emerald Isle. We flew into Beaufort, NC (lovely historic coastal town) and drove to Emerald Isle. We had a super fun night at the Emerald Club. Some of the best people watching I've done recently...couple of the 'locals' were very interesting. Live performance by Johnny Dollar Band was the highlight of the evening. Unfortunately the band has changed since we last saw them...still good, but only two original members are with them. The old group were much better 'showman' (and musicians). The weather was perfect and the whole trip was fun & relaxing. The Crystal Coast is so appropriately named. I had a couple of days to get some sewing done. Seems like black & white was the color scheme of the week. Is there anything more classic than houndstooth? On Wednesday, my Dad and Nina came to visit. They brought me the most delicious real tomatoes and SC peaches. I made TWO fab-u-lous peach cobblers! We ate every bite. Don't hate. We spent Friday with Hanna...toured the NASCAR Hall of Fame, rambled through her campus(UNC-C) and had dinner at the restaurant where she works. Although we aren't really race fans, the Hall of Fame is an impressive facility. Saturday we headed north to visit Rach. She was a great hostess. We cruised NC State campus and had lunch at 'The Pitt' (wow!....a must if you are ever in Raleigh). Then we drove through the Duke campus and she showed us her office building and some houses/apartments she is interested in. We hung out at Tyler's in the American Tobacco Center and waited out a few rain showers before the Bull's baseball game. Good wine & people watching! The ballgame was excellent although it was hot as hades! We had good seats (more great people watching) and the Bull's won. We left during the 7th inning and went to Tobacco Road (more good food & wine) to catch the end of the college world series game, Clemson vs. SC. We were very sad that our Tigers lost, especially to the Gamecocks! We finished the weekend with a tour of UNC and delicious Sunday brunch. We have some outstanding colleges in NC and now I've seen three of the best. This morning my scales screamed at me! And my digestive has played 'pay back' all day for my 10 days of wining & dining! Now I am home alone and the house is deafeningly quiet. Pa & Nina are safely back in Alabama. The girls are at their respective apartments and back at work. I am getting caught up in the basement. And my sweet husband is in the Gulf, working on a project associated with the oil spill clean up. It all sounds like a huge goat rodeo and he doesn't completely understand his assignment, yet. I hope they can help. Unfortunately, he doesn't have a magic wand to make it all better. I promise not to whine about him being away...maybe.
First day of summer break has been great! I'm not sitting around eating bon-bons mind you, but laboring in the basement is as much fun as it is work!
Sort of looks like a fabric/ribbon/thread bomb blew up down here right now....creating cuteness does get messy sometimes! I finished these burps, bloomers & matching CuTee.
I walked, caught up on blog reading and emailing neglected friends, did some laundry & ironing, monogrammed a bag for myself and starting reading a book (just for fun), spent hours on-line shopping (and maybe ordering) some new embroidery designs and fabric. Oooo...does it get any better than this?!?!?
I'll end today by sharing a picture of me and one of my sweet Senior girls, Christina, who brought me flowers the last day of school. What a pleasant surprise! My Mom was an elementary teacher and she always let me open her Christmas/end of school gifts from her students. Those little acts of appreciation don't happen as often for us high school teachers, so it sure is extra special when it does.
School is out for summer! Starting tomorrow I will finally be back on SUSAN TIME! Oh, I mega heart summer vacation. We are off to the beach for a few days...can't wait!...we have family coming to visit next week (that's you, Pa & Nina) and we are looking forward to that too. We are planning to check out the new NASCAR Hall of Fame, do a day or two at the lake and take in a Bull's game in Durham...please pray for fair skys and cooler temperatures! I have a stack of orders to keep me busy so the summer is off to a perfect start. I came up one pound shy of my weight loss goal, but it's all good. I'm very happy being 33 pounds lighter. Of course, a female cousin at the family reunion Sunday had lost 48 lbs. Wow, good for her! Really? Talk about stealing my thunder! My next goal is to lose the final 10-15 lbs. by Thanksgiving. That sounds like a long time, but you know it gets harder and I want to be realistic. Again, wish me luck and I'll keep you posted.
Just two more days of school (for retesting), Graduation on Saturday, then a couple of work days....we are so close to summer vacation I can taste it ! My students have, once again, made me extremely proud...100% level 1!!!...lowest exam grade was 83! I could do a whole post about the problems in public education, but I'd rather concentrate on the good stuff. My students, all they learned, how they matured, the skills they acquired & projects they completed and these test results overshadow any question that what I'm doing everyday is valuable . It is so rewarding to finish another school year feeling like I did something very good. This was year #29 for me...Bless my heart! no wonder I'm tired!
These matching shoe/cosmetic bags left the basement today bound for a Sept. wedding party...love the Brides that plan ahead! Also love the classic toile fabric.
And to finish up: lost one more pound got new walking shoes today (yes y'all, they are white!) Land's End bathing suits arrived, they fit beautifully it's bedtime here... 'Nite!
3 piece quilted travel set only $75 (includes monogram)
Set includes a small duffle, large tote, garment bag
Also available in pink/white-limited quantities-two set of each color This is a 'blog only' sale-email Susan@basementbags.com to order
Since my last post:
we celebrated the holiday weekend at the lake-Sunday was beautiful, Monday was a washout but we enjoyed a great game of Monopoly-Hannie totally bankrupted all of us!
if anyone in authority asked me, I'd suggest three-day weekends be the norm, not the exception
lost another pound-only 10 days & 3 more lbs. to lose to reach my goal-wish me luck
exams started today, my first class had 100% level 1 (that's the highest possible)
orders continue to pile up-that's not a complaint-I'm processing as quickly as possible, can't wait 'til the basement is my only job
our sweet dog, Jules, died. We will miss her, but she was old & it was just time for her to go.
Thank goodness tomorrow is Friday! I will be sewing all weekend. Hope you have something equally fun planned!
From the Basement: I'm staying pretty busy. 'Item of the week' has been these fun kids totes. The design options are endless and they are all just too cute!
From my "Spring Meltdown": My trusty scales finally hit -30lbs. this morning!!! Yahhoooooo!!! I'm very proud of myself. Just 4 more lbs. to reach my 'end of school' weight goal.
From school: You may remember me saying this exactly one year ago today: "there just comes a time when it needs to be over".... well, we are there! Please hurry June 9!
No, not for me, silly! Even with my recent weight loss this body is far from bikini ready, if it ever was! The new bikini is the latest addition to my ever growing collections of embroidery designs. It's from Applique Frenzy and I love it. What do you think? I'll be adding it to the website soon.
Thanks goodness tomorrow is Friday! Good night JohnBoy!
If you are a regular reader you know that I'm not a shopper and here are two more reasons for my list of why the world of retail is not my favorite place.
Screamin' kids
people talking on cell phones
I went into three stores on Friday and in each store my senses were assaulted by the constant screaming of children and people blabbing non-stop on cell phones.
Mothers, learn how to control your children, please! My daughters never acted like that in public...well, maybe ONCE! I do not know how the mothers stand it and how inconsiderate to us innocents that have to be exposed to it. Take the kids home! Don't take them to the store if they are tired or sick or hungry...use some common sense! Stop yelling at them. And for heaven's sakes stop 'warning' them over and over! It is your job to run the show, not be run over by your children. Tell them what you expect, give them a consequence and then do it! Yes, your children will be unhappy temporarily, but the rest of us will thank you! and you will be thankful one day that you took charge while they were still young and trainable!
And lastly, get off of the damn darn phone American! It is rude to carry on a conversation in public, period.
Now, to end on a more pleasant note....aren't these quilted totes great?!?! Both of these were ordered for graduation gifts. I use one for my 'school bag'...it's huge....holds all of my papers,a lunch bag and sometimes even my purse! Hope you've had a wonderful weekend. Think there are 14 regular, 4 exam and 2 work days between me & summer vacation. Wahooo...light at the end of the tunnel!
Once again my students have dazzled me with their talents! Many of them selected dresses for their most recent projects and some of the patterns were really difficult...lots of gathering, darts, zippers, pockets....they were not intimidated by any of it. Of course, we do have that 'sewing angel' that occasionally fixes things when no one is looking ;) Seriously, they are all precious & make me so proud. I will miss them when the semester is over.
Today I am knee deep in a mental funk...trying desperately to 'walk' and 'iron' my way out. My brain is to the point of explosion from thinking (fretting). Some of my favorite quotes seem to be on a continuous loop, playing over & over in my head.
"We find time & money for the things that are important to us"
"You get what you give"
"We learn what we live and live what we learn"
"Sometimes if you don't listen, you have to feel"
"Apples don't fall far from the tree"
"Explain not, friends don't expect it and enemies won't accept it"
"Pretty is, as pretty does"
"Put on your big girl panties and deal with it"
I hate this and hope the mood lifts soon. Does anyone have an inspirational quote to share?
...different ways can you decorate a plain black tote? My guess is that the possibilities are endless, but here are four fabulous ones that I made today. And talk about affordable! just $22.00 for all that cuteness!!! This is a great gift for teachers, Moms, graduates, bridesmaids...YOU! We have several colors and lots of ribbon options. Get yours here. I also embroidered the blanket & child's tote...love the design & colors. Right now I'm very tired of being in the basement. My sweet husband did many of my normal weekend chores, the rest will just have to wait. We didn't have our typical meals & the treadmill sat idle. I'm hoping praying that the scales don't show it! Is it time for summer vacation yet?
The Basement 'to do list' is very long. Here's what I made today...it hardly makes a dent in the list! Busy is good, right?!?! The Travel Set is for Leslie, winner of the Springtime Giveaway....I think she will love it.
I want this. It's a clamp for the embroidery machine. I have the small one. Now I want the big one. I really want one, but I really do not want to pay for it. I know I will get it...just have to wrestle with myself first (that will include talking about it endlessly to my wonderful husband..poor Danny!) Why can't I be like other women and just want shoes or jewelry? Hope you are staying safe & dry this stormy weekend!

Finally got around to playing with a slide production...so easy...what have I been waiting for? These are some of my favorite baby goodies.
This new polka dot lunch bag is just too cute! It's the newest bag available from the basement. New bag, old brain? glad you asked. I was exchanging email with my brother on Friday & said I'd see him next weekend. He replied that Mama told him that we were coming this weekend and that he'd have to watch her/get her to write things down because she was beginning to get things confused. Low & behold! it's not Mama who's confused it's ME! I completely mixed up the dates...just like two weeks ago when I forgot about the promise to 'dog sit'...bless my heart, my brain is shot! At least the remembering part of it. So anyway, we flew down yesterday and enjoyed a short visit. The weather was absolutely gorgeous. I'll be playing catch up with orders the rest of the week, so hang tight if you are expecting a package...it's coming soon, pinkie swear!
I am angry a little disappointed that the house cleaning/laundry doing/grass cutting fairies didn't come while we were away...just can't find a goof fairy these days!
Here in the Basement, there can never be too much fabric & ribbon or too many cute embroidery/applique' designs. There are so many talented digitizers out there. Many of them are SAHM/WAHMs (I want to be one of those!) and it feels great to support their businesses. What a win/win!...sales for them, adorable designs for me & my customers. The soccer ball and snail came from Applique' Cafe. More cuteness using their designs coming soon! My vacation week has been good. Made a quick trip to SC to see Mom. Nice visit. Of course, that always means a stop at Mary Jo's Fabric store...it's like fabric heaven! Wish I could have one yard of everything! I did an excellent job of containing myself and came out with just one small big ass bag of fabric. Durham Daughter is passing through this way tonight...we're off for a 'Mexican Date' and then we are 'dog sitting' for the rest of the weekend. She is visiting a high school buddy that is in Vet school in AL. I'm sure I don't want to know how much fun they will have! Only one more day to get your name on the Giveaway list...don't forget to enter!
It has been a perfect Easter Day here in NC...could not have ordered nicer weather. Hope the rest of the week (my Spring Break) will be equally as beautiful. Also hope to find time to visit the blogs of new followers and others that have signed up for the Springtime Giveaway...thank you all for participating. For my new followers, "Welcome to the Basement!" Please spread the word, there is still plenty of time to enter. Just be sure to leave you comments and let me know if you have posted about the Giveaway.
I was not very productive this weekend, but did finish this cute shoe bag and cosmetic bag set above. This was the last of one of my favorite fabrics. Trying to decide if I should order more or try something new...what do you think?

The shoe bag and cosmetic bag can be made with any coordinating fabric available in the Basement and personalized with your monogram, or that of someone special!
Yesterday was Ms. R's (student teacher) last day - she did a wonderful job and is going to be a fabulous teacher! The center photo is our Apparel Dev. I class, she gave each of them a treat bag with a 'fat quarter' (fabric) and candy, then taught them how to make yoyos. They stitched or glued the yoyos onto ribbon or headbands...too cute!...and the girls didn't even complain about sewing by hand. Sweet Ms. R gave me a gift certificate for a manicure/pedicure which I plan to redeem later today.
Some of the Apparel II students finished their projects (a garment that fit the bottom of their body) On each end of the above collage, check out the precious skirt and the 'oh so popular this Spring' rompers. Such talented girls!
In the Basement, Bikini Bags continue to be a 'best seller'. These make great gifts for Bridesmaids, graduation, birthdays...especially since bikini season is right around the corner!
March is a big birthday month in our family...Danny got the ball rolling on the 1st. Our grandson, Cooper, turned four yesterday...really? FOUR!?!?! where does the time go? Rach will be 26 y/o on Tuesday and that makes me feel 'old as dirt'! Pa, if you are reading this, it makes you REAL old ;)
As of Wednesday, I'm down 24 lbs.!!! think I've hit a plateau, which is driving me nuts (can we say impatient?!?) but I am determined to see it though this time!
My weekend 'to do list' is so long I don't even want to think about it! Thankfully, Monday is a teacher work day and Spring Break will be here soon. Y'all have a great weekend!
The weather in NC is absolutely beautiful today ... on my way out of the basement to enjoy a little of it. Wanted to share what I worked on this morning. The colors just look like Spring and make me smile! I have some super cute new designs, promise one day we will get all of this on the website...in the meantime, please remember you can email me to order anything you see here on my blog. Hope your day is full of sunshine and Spring Fun!
Just finsihed this adorable "Orange ware' for some best dressed mini -Vols. Oh wait! this could be for a little Clemson Tiger too. What do you think? Either way, these are stinkin' cute! Is it Friday yet? Amazing how a time change of one little hour gets me so out of wack. Hurry weekend!
So yesterday I didn't really feel like sewing but needed to appear productive so I pretended to be in a 'creative' mood. I was trying to come up with something unique for a couple of baby gifts that family members had ordered. Orders from family go like this...they get stuff for free, much reduced prices or occasionally a trade, however, they are at the mercy of my schedule and design whims. In other words, I experiment on them! Not sure about these....thinking there are some proportion and color issues...what do you think?
Made this Toile & Dots bag and Buddy Blanket yesterday...is that really all I accomplished the entire day?!?!? Think there was some laundry doing, cooking, reading, exercising, shopping and t.v. watching mixed in....but the sewing was definitely my favorite Saturday activity! Hope you are having a super weekend.
I love to sew. I also love teaching others to sew. This is my Advanced sewing class wearing the hoodies that they just finished making. This is a fun, talented group of young ladies. They make me so proud! Below are some closer shots of their work. Next project - a 'bottom'... they select the pattern & fabric for a skirt, pants, shorts...anything that fits the bottom half of their body. Project has to include a zipper and hopefully pockets. Can't wait to see what they come up with!
Practical gifts just make sense to me...especially with today's tough economy. Here in the basement I do my best to make practical also look pretty or in the case of this great towel set, adorable! Personalized towels are a good gift for any occasion, for all ages. I plan to add them to the website in time for Graduation & Summer Wedding season. Speaking of the website....not making much progress on the update. Looks like that will be my summer project. College daughter has Spring Break this week. I'm jealous. Hurry April 5!
Shower Gift: Burp cloths, Church Bag & Matching Bib
Has blogger world given me up for dead? I'm still here...just not much to tell.
This is my least favorite time of year. We've had too much yucky weather and it's been crazy cold and wet for sooo many days this year. I'm ready for sunshine and Spring. We got a little tease of it this weekend....too bad (but good too, always thankful for business) that I was stuck in the basement most of it.
Here's a few random things:
weight - down 22 lbs...wahoooo!!!....I'm 'bustin' slack, but not ready to buy new smaller pants yet....will I keep it off this time? hopefully. but honestly my track record ain't so good. new approach - treating my weight control issue like a 'disease' that needs constant attention. this gaining/losing cycle is unhealthy and heartbreaking. once I've reached my goal, giving myself a 5 lb. grace and if scales go above that, it's back on the plan!
my student teacher (who is fabulous!) has only two more weeks, then she is off for Costa Rica for an International Student Teaching experience...I have gotten spoiled, but will miss her because she is such a sweetheart!
attended a baby shower today and for my followers, you know that is 'so not me'. wasn't too bad, mostly a family thing so I survived. my gift is pictured above...think mom-to-be was pleased
dentist last week, hated it! new night guard (yes, I grind my teeth) is on the way and my account has many less $'s thanks to that and the purchase of a Sonicare...wow, what a gadget! to call it an electrictoothbrush would be an understatement
praying politicians will develop a conscience & remember they are representing the people before they vote in 'ObamaCare'. how can they sleep at night, knowing that so many of US are against it?
'Til next time, hope all is well in your corner of blog world!
Wonder how much money Hallmark earned this week? I did my part, I like this holiday.
Here's a cute story about one of my favorite Valentine's Day ... those of you who work in education or who have nosey 'front desk' personnel will probably relate to this one. The first Valentine's Day that Danny & I were a couple, he sent me roses. He had them delivered to school. Sweet, but totally unnecessary, I'm just not a 'give me flowers kinda girl'. Think he had been trained in his 'former' life that on special occasions flowers were expected and that they BETTER be sent to the work place for all to see...that's cool, all girls have their thing, flowers just aren't mine. Anyway... our relationship wasn't a secret, but not everyone knew I had a new 'someone special '. By the time I got to the office to pick up the flowers, there were no less than four or five sets of 'pin holes' in the card envelop where all the ladies in the front office had taken a peek to see who had sent me flowers. He had signed the card 'Hugs & dishes' (which was an inside joke between us) and I'm sure the ladies were totally frustrated by our 'code'. Ten years later he is STILL my 'someone special' and everyday with him is like Feb. 14. Hope you are having a wonderful Valentine's Day.
Seems like everyone loves owls these days, even for babies...gotta admit this gift set turned out pretty cute!
We had 'Saturday School' to make up one of our snow days. I didn't really mind, 3.5 hrs vs. 8...works for me! Please remind me of that on Thursday when I'm complaining about a one dayweekend. I did get 'the clamp' and it works like a charm. Makes embroidering the quilted bags sooo much easier...was able to do several in record time. Don't you love the houndstooth duffle bag? I also finished some burp cloths and this precious shoe bag. Hope your team won the Super Bowl. Halftime, which is usually my favorite part of the game, was very disappointing this year. Was that really 'the Who'? Some entertainers don't know when to hang it up.
Bedtime...5:15 am will be here in like 2 minutes (that's what it will feel like). ugh!
This beautiful bride (in pink/orange) sent me this photo today from her wedding in Turks and Caicos. She ordered bikini bags for the Bridal Party and some special guests. I love it when customers share pictures or stories about their purchases. Makes me warm just looking at that blue water, sand & palm trees - wish I was there...especially since we are gearing up for another blast of wintery weather here in NC.
I'm enjoying a second 'snow day' out of school and decided to make a post on this much neglected blog. This is really an uneventful time of year and there's not much news from the basement.
been suffering with a sinus/ear infection for weeks now, absolutely miserable!
my new students this semester are wonderful
my student teacher is fabulous...so young & enthusiastic
a SmartBoard was finally installed in my classroom last week...unbelievable!
lost 12 lbs. (that's 12 of the 20 that I lost & regained last year...geeze!)
wish I could work at home all the time
anxiously waiting for a new embroidery machine gadget 'the clamp' to arrive
January sales were surprisingly good...hugs to you awesome customers!
glad my Toyota isn't part of the recall, old cars are good for something ;)
That's it for now....hope you are staying safe & warm.
Did you watch Oprah today?...great show on the dangers of cell phones & texting while driving. Latest research shows texting when behind the wheel makes it 8 times more likely one will have an accident. Much worse than drunk driving. Reinforces my belief that 'multitasking' is more accurately described as 'halfassing'....not too cool when you driving. Do you text while driving?
I totally enjoyed my day off. Got caught up in the Basement (more orders now, please!). Made the above baby gifts for a friend...they are very 'green' and will probably love the 'recycle' CuTee! Spent the rest of the day doing a little housecleaning and laundry. Walked some extra minutes on the treadmill and did lots of web surfing. Hope yours was a good day too.
Germs are apparently in the air at our house. Thanks for sharing, Honey! We were unspeakably lazy yesterday for the sole purpose of self-preservation, you know, allowing our bodies to 'fight' the invaders...yeah, right? I do not remember the last time that I did absolutely nothing for an entire day, but it was nice. Of course today & tomorrow I'll be playing catch up to get orders out. Thanks MLK for your life's work and a day off!
Just finished this Tooth Fairy Pillow, cute huh? It's going to the youngest of three daughters. The Mom 'assigned' each girl a color at birth: pink, purple & lime. Everything each girl has is in her assigned color, cloths, cups, toys...she says it keeps her organized and eliminates arguments between the girls about what belongs to who. Moms are so cleaver! Love it when they share these stories with me.
There's still plenty of time to order treats for Valentines' Day. Check out the cute applique designs that can be stitched on CuTees, burps & bibs, kitchen towels, cosmetic & tote bags...just email me with your request.
Haven't posted in so long, probably don't have a reader left, but for those of you still checking in, thanks & hopefully I'll be a better blogger. It's just been a crazy start to the New Year. Our 'winter break' from school was too short. I stayed busy processing orders right up to the last minute then before I got turned around good it was time to go back to work. We just finished exams and will be starting a new semester soon. I have a fabulous girl from ASU, Courtney, that will be student teaching with me. Really looking forward to working with her. Hubby wore up yesterday with fever, extreme headache and abdominal pain. Fortunately flu test was negative, some unknown viral infection. He's feeling better today, but still not himself. That two hour wait in the doctors office was a stellar 'people watching' opportunity. Here is some of what I saw that drives me nuts: wearing pajamas in public wearing shorts/flip flops when it's freezing cold outside Mother/daughter each texting on their phone and for one solid hour didn't speak to each other talking (loudly) on cell phones in the waiting room Parent getting a snack out of vending machine and not sharing with child (why was there a vending machine full of junk food in the waiting room anyway?) Parent of a 10-12 mth old baby feeding him 'lucky charms' and tea in a sippy cup Teenagers putting her feet up in chair & parent that don't correct her bad manners My Heavens! I probably sound like a prude to some people, but good manners and common sense sure seem to be in short order these days.
A New Year full of hope and promise AND new products at Basement Bags, what more could we ask for? We ate our greens & peas yesterday so now it's just a matter of waiting for all the good stuff to happen. Hope it's a spectacular year for us all!
Thank Goodness For Vacation! We had a wonderful Christmas with friends and family, hope you did as well. The highlight for me was the Christmas Eve service at our former church. Our new holiday tradition is to spend the day with my family in SC and then stop on the way home for church. We moved 7 years ago and we all miss our church family very much. I look forward to the once a year visit and although it still makes me a little 'home sick', the overwhelming welcome is worth it.
My machines are enjoying a few days off for yearly maintain & servicing. I'll start production again on Jan. 4. I'm excited about adding some new products, check out the great new quilted travel essentials below. I had a limited selection that were top sellers for Christmas. The additional colors & patterns will be fabulous Mothers' Day, Shower & Graduation gifts. I've got a bee in my bonnet for a website re-do/update, but it's so much work and I'm too cheap to pay someone...sounds like a good summer vacation project. I'd like to thank all of you that helped make 2009 a great year for Basement Bags and hope you will continue shop with me.
Do you have something special planned for New Year's Eve? I'd love to do something fun...we usually stay home & rarely stay awake 'til midnight...how lame!
Quilted duffle & garment bags are hot ticket gift items this year. Not the best picture (maybe Santa will bring me a camera & photography lessons!) but you get the idea.
This one is navy with navy & white polka dot ribbon, monogrammed with kelly green thread...prep-a-licious!
weekend so today after school I took a few ME minutes.
First, a much needed manicure (chemical finishes on fabric play havoc with the cuticles!) and then a not-so-needed-but-oh-so-yummy Peppermint Chocolate Chip Shake from Chick Fil A....marvelous treats! And the perfect incentives to get me back to work this evening. Check back tomorrow for pics of the adorable duffle & garment bags that I stitched up tonight.
Am I really 50+? Life is good. My fortunes include an amazing husband, four fabulous daughters (2 birth, 2 bonus), two wonderful son-in-laws and three adorable grandsons. I am a teacher and owner of a home-based business. I started Basement Bags, a custom sewing/embroidery boutique, in 2005 and am working hard to monogram the world! I am usually too loud, always on a diet, passionate about sewing/embroidery, love to read, appreciate a good glass of White Zen, and live for school vacations. I am thankful for hair color and shapeware. I love 'Mexican dates' with my family, summers at the lake, thunder storms and sleeping late on Saturday! "Home" is my favorite place on earth.
